Stihl Demonstrates Practical Excellence
Treevolution present latest tree-work techniques at APF 2004

Demonstrating both top quality products and practical excellence at APF 2004, STIHL has joined forces with Treevolution this week to present the latest in tree-work practice and climbing techniques. One of the country’s leading arboricultural training and development organisations, Treevolution are sponsored by STIHL on an on-going basis, with the mutual objective of ensuring professional excellence and enabling practical feedback from the arboricultural sector.

As individuals and commercial operations within the arboricultural industry face continuing insurance issues and new, impactful legislation such as the proposed Work at Height Regulations 2004, responsible organisations like STIHL and Treevolution are keen to promote both the awareness and practice of excellence in their industry. “Fundamental to the successful future of our industry …” believes Liam McKeown of Treevolution “ … is the continual development of practitioners’ expertise and the ongoing study of new work methods and techniques”. And those expert skills and new work methods will be among the range of techniques and issues presented by Treevolution at APF this week.

Treevolution demonstrations include:

  • Risk Assessment & Tree Access Methods, inc. tree climbing, use of platforms, tree hazard identification.
  • Use of chainsaw with a rope and harness.
  • Work Positioning & Safe Use of top-handled chainsaws.
  • Recent and current issues including proposed Work at Height Regulations.

The Treevolution team at APF comprises its founders : Liam McKeown, Chris White and Jon Hartill (former European and five-times UK & Ireland Tree Climbing Champion); plus Richard Allmond and Chris Cowell (another UK&I Tree Climbing Champion). In addition to their quality training and development programmes, Treevolution have close associations and advisory roles in major industry organisations including the Arboricultural Association and the Health & Safety Executive.
