| Engaging Arboricultural Contractors Seminars
Since our inaugural Newsletter, we have run another two Engaging Arboricultural Contractors seminars at Usk College in Gwent and at Sparsholt College, Hampshire.
The seminars are aimed at the ‘client’ side and are designed to assist anyone engaging a ‘competent’ contractor. The events are run in conjunction with the Arboricultural Association and HSE. See: www.treevolution.co.uk/seminars.php
The following events are planned for 2010:
- 9th March Richmond Park, London
- 27th April Welshpool, Powys
- 28th April Wigan, Lancs
If you would like to attend, or you know of a client who may be interested, please contact Glenda Benger at HSE via e-mail: Glenda.benger@hse.gsi.gov.uk
Remember: These events are FREE!
If you are an AA Approved Contractor and you would like to speak at one of our Engaging Arboricultural Contractors seminars next year, on the issues facing a ‘compliant’ contractor, please give Liam a call. We’ll even pay you!
Managing Arboricultural Contractors Seminar
Following the success of an Engaging Arboricultural Contractors seminar run uniquely for the Forestry Commission last year in the Forest of Dean, we recently held a Managing Arboricultural Contractors seminar for the Forestry Commission in Scotland. This was again supported by HSE and was very well received by Forestry Commission Scotland. See www.treevolution.co.uk/seminars.php
New HSE Website
HSE have launched a new website called Tree Work Health & Safety, offering news, advice and guidance for the tree work industry. For further information have a look at www.hse.gov.uk/treework
If you have concerns about the risk of suspension trauma in Aerial Tree Rescue have a look at www.hse.gov.uk/falls/harness.htm
Refresher/Update Training With Treevolution
During the current economic climate, many companies are taking the opportunity to train and update their staff with Treevolution.
Please remember HSE recommends that ‘...all chainsaw operators have regular refresher/update training …’
We believe that refresher training is more important than ‘base line’ Certificates of Competence’. For further information see the HSE publication Chainsaws at Work. Single copies are available free of charge from HSE books. books.hse.gov.uk
At Treevolution some of our courses may be longer than other organisations. The reason is that we aim to provide additional consolidation during training. We believe that training should prepare individuals for industry, not just an assessment! See www.treevolution.co.uk/training.php
New 5 Day Arboricultural Dismantling Techniques Training Course

A new five day training course in Arboricultural Dismantling Techniques, for persons involved in planning and carrying out rigging operations with limited 'drop zones'.
